Today’s church is one that is largely impacted by the world rather than being the standard-setters of righteousness and justice. Using the Book of Acts as our model, it becomes quite clear that we have deviated from the effectiveness of the original body. A glance at the church’s history reveals a pattern of polarization among Gentile Believers and Israel that has resulted in the power of the Holy Spirit, so mightily present upon the early church, withdrawing from the church. For those who long for the presence of God to return to His people in fullness, the matter of the Jewish people is vital. God made a covenant with Abraham that still maintains today, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you" (Genesis 12:3). In order to find our way back to His presence and power, there must be a a restoration of the church’s Jewish roots in God’s purpose and mission for Isreal.

We live in a time when more prophecies are being fulfilled regarding Israel than ever before. The News reads like pages from Israel’s prophets in the Bible. At the same time, there is a polarization taking place among the Believers regarding Israel. Some can only see her in the political colors in which the media has often painted her, while others see her in relation to God’s Word. Yet the matters of Isreal and the Jewish people are so important to the church today. Why? Because God made a covenant with Abraham that extended to his descendants, a covenant that still maintains today. “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you" (Genesis 12:3).
Over the centuries the church has often had its own agenda and preoccupation with its position of power, which resulted in doctrines not initiated by God. Such has resulted in the church losing its way, deviating from the effectiveness of the original body shown through the Book of Acts. Even a casual glance at the modern church reveals that the presence of the Holy Spirit, which was so mightily upon the early church, has dissipated. For those who long for the presence of God to return to His people in fullness, there must be a recognition of the place of Israel and the Jewish people in the heart and plans of God. In order to find our way back to His presence and power, the church must restore its Jewish roots, and set its purpose in God’s mission for Israel.

Maureen Moss was brought up in the Catholic Church, but even from a young age felt dissatisfied. Feeling that if the truth was not in the Church, perhaps it was in the world, led to a search fraught with eventual alcoholism and despair. Calling out to God, Jesus answered her, which began a new life as she learned His truth, and which also led to learning why she had, from a child, felt drawn to Israel and the Jewish people. Maureen became involved in a Pentecostal church in the beginning, and later has had the opportunity to become part of a congregation of Messianic believers as well. Her heartfelt for desire has been for the Church to learn about and embrace its Jewish roots.
